Things Bought and A Lesson Learned

I am getting an ipod touch. YAY! Actually, I was just going to get a nano like my old one but my mom said that since I'm gonna get an ipod anyway why not just get an "touch." Well, I couldn't afford a touch. She offered to pay for the difference between the nano and touch price, so who was I to argue. I've been wanting an itouch for the longest time. Since it came out, really, but there was no sense in getting one since my old ipod worked just fine. However, a few months ago my brother took my old ipod and this was fine because I've been wanting to upgrade. But the mainland trip was coming up and I wanted to have spending money. Anyway, I'm just really excited. I hope it won't be a big disappointment and I just like the idea of it.

My liking just the idea of something happens quite a lot. Take for instance makeup. I found makeup is not for me. The idea of it is nice and watching people put it on on Youtube was fun, but makeup is a hassle to me. It takes so much time to put it on that I have to at least wake up or get ready 20 minutes earlier than my usual time. Don't get me wrong, I will put on makeup on special occasions, but I'm quite happy with going natural most of the time. And I'll still continue to watch those makeup videos on Youtube because I find them strangely fascinating.

Other than the touch, I also finally ordered the soundtrack for Avenue Q. I went to see the play on a recent trip to New York, and I loved it. I already knew some of the songs way before I saw the play and often listen to them, but hearing and seeing the actors perform them in the context of the play was great. I am also very excited to get that.

And since, I'm talking about purchases (yes, my left over money is very quickly dwindling) I also bought the books Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously by Julie Powell (I want to read the book before seeing the movie) and Educating Esme: Diary of a Teacher's First Year by Esme Raji Codell (I want to be inspired again about becoming a teacher in case I ever do get a teaching job). I can't wait for those as well!

Oh, and I've learned not to assume because it leads to bad consequences. It screws me up and others as well. Hence the saying: Don't assume--it makes an ass out of yoU and ME. Hopefully this stays with me for a while, but knowing me... Hmmm....
