Thought: If I buy something that is about $16.01 I don't have to pay for shipping!
I then scramble to find that $16.01 something on the website, and of course I don't. What I find instead is a $25 blush or two pretty nail polishes that costs $9 each. The more I stare at my computer going back and forth between the two, trying to decide which ones I am going to buy with my eye shadow palette, the more I want to buy BOTH. My conscience says no, Michelle, you are broke and still need to pay for such and such bills. I give a resigned sigh, but then happen glance on the upper left hand side of the website again and these words flash: "FREE RETURNS with every order."
Thought: I will buy both the blush and the nail polish, get that free shipping and see if I like them (which I'm sure I wont because impulse buys are always bad) and return whatever I don't like for free!
I end up spending more that I planned on. When the orders do come, I also end up being either too lazy or too in love with the products to return them. This whole episode I just described did not actually occur, but it is based on too many circumstances where I was the victim of "free shipping" offers. To tell the truth, it's the word "free" makes me a little crazy. To me, no matter how lame, free stuff is always good stuff.
